What the “G” in XG stands for actually changed in 2026. At formation, the name was Xtraordinary Girls. On January 12, 2026, it became Xtraordinary Genes.
XG is made up of seven members: JURIN, CHISA, HINATA, HARVEY, JURIA, MAYA and COCONA. The official site introduces them as a “seven-member artist group.” In this article, we go step by step from the members' ages and the debut single “Tippy Toes” to Tokyo Dome, Coachella and a second world tour.
The channel numbers are what we measured on November 1, 2026. Quotes from English-language sources appear in their original wording; words from Japanese-language sources (the official profile, XG's Japanese announcements, Daily Sports, Billboard JAPAN, Natalie and Sports Hochi) are our translation.
How Old Are XG's Seven Members?
XG's official profile (in Japanese) lists the seven members' names and dates of birth. Here they are, in the official order.
JURIN (June 19, 2002)
CHISA (January 17, 2002)
HINATA (June 11, 2002)
HARVEY (December 18, 2002)
JURIA (November 28, 2004)
MAYA (August 10, 2005)
COCONA (December 6, 2005)
As of November 1, 2026, JURIN, CHISA and HINATA are 24, HARVEY is 23, JURIA and MAYA are 21, and COCONA is 20. Even COCONA, the youngest, has turned 20, so all seven are now in their twenties. With birthdays on November 28 (JURIA), December 6 (COCONA) and December 18 (HARVEY), three of them will each turn a year older before the year is out.
On the other hand, the official profile gives no Japanese-script (katakana) renderings of the names, no hometowns, and no positions or parts within the group. That may be a bit of a letdown if you were hoping for hometowns or positions. Throughout this article, we write the names exactly as the official site does, in all caps.
The channel also has a video series titled “XG TAPE.” “[XG TAPE #2] GALZ XYPHER” features four of the members, COCONA, MAYA, HARVEY and JURIN, and has 51.02 million views (as of November 1, 2026).
The “G” in the Name: From Xtraordinary Girls to Xtraordinary Genes
In an official announcement on January 12, 2026, the group's name changed from “Xtraordinary Girls” to “Xtraordinary Genes.” Explaining “Genes,” the announcement says: “The word ‘Genes’ represents the power and creativity that reside within our core, as well as our spirit of continuously creating new culture without being bound by conventional norms.”
“Building upon our origins as ‘Girls,’ and returning to the ‘Genes’ at our core, XG will continue to evolve more deeply and authentically.” That is how the announcement frames the new name.
The official profile now opens with the name “Xtraordinary Genes,” too. It goes on to describe empowering people from all kinds of backgrounds around the world, “unbound by inborn attributes or frameworks” (translated from the official Japanese profile).
The English announcement linked above is on the site of XGALX, the agency XG belongs to, and the Japanese version (in Japanese) went up on XG's own official site the same day. So the news went out in Japanese and English on the same day.
Debut Single “Tippy Toes” and Signature Song “WOKE UP”
XG debuted on March 18, 2022, with the first single “Tippy Toes.” It's also the oldest release on the official discography page.
The music video has about 36.06 million views (as of November 1, 2026). The channel was created on July 28, 2021, and the oldest video in its on-screen list is “XGALX - The Beginning,” from January 25, 2022. So a video bearing the XGALX name came out about two months before the debut single.
More singles followed: “MASCARA” on June 29, 2022, and “SHOOTING STAR” on January 25, 2023. The first mini album, NEW DNA, released on September 27, 2023, is described in the discography notes as “six songs, all new” (translated from the Japanese).
The most-watched video on the channel is the music video for “WOKE UP,” posted on May 21, 2024.
It has 104.39 million views, followed by “LEFT RIGHT” in second place with 89.43 million and “SHOOTING STAR” in third with 86.56 million (all as of November 1, 2026). As of November 1, 2026, eight of the top 10 videos by views are music videos. The other two are the “XG TAPE #2” video mentioned above and the “SHOOTING STAR” choreography video. It seems fair to say the music videos are the face of the channel.
On September 20, 2024, XG also released “WOKE UP REMIXX,” a reworking of the song with Jay Park, OZworld, AKLO, Paloalto, VERBAL (m-flo), Awich, Tak and Dok2. According to the discography page, the remix was planned and produced directly by JAKOPS, the producer who has shaped XG's work.
That producer, SIMON (JAKOPS), was arrested on February 23, 2026, on suspicion of possessing cocaine, as reported by The Japan News (republished by The Star) and by a Jiji Press English-language report (republished by Adnkronos). The next day, February 24, XG issued a statement on its official X account; in the wording reported by Daily Sports (a Japanese sports daily; in Japanese), the management said, “XG has no involvement whatsoever in this matter” (translated from Daily Sports' Japanese report). On June 1, the Tokyo District Court handed down a sentence of one year and four months in prison, suspended for three years, for using cocaine, Sports Hochi (a Japanese sports daily; in Japanese) reported.
The Billboard Charts and THE CORE - 核
According to the official profile, XG became the first Japanese artist ever to reach No. 1 on the weekly Billboard “Hot Trending Songs Powered by Twitter” chart. That No. 1 was “GRL GVNG,” released on June 30, 2023. A Billboard article reported that it debuted at No. 1 on the chart dated July 8. The “first Japanese artist” part, however, does not appear in that article; it comes from the official description.
According to the official profile, the second mini album AWE, released on November 8, 2024, gave XG its first entry on the Billboard 200 album chart. After the singles chart, XG's name made it onto a US chart with an album, too.
Then, on January 23, 2026, came XG's first full-length album, THE CORE - 核 (核 means “core”). Its 10 tracks include “GALA,” “HYPNOTIZE,” “PS118” and “4 SEASONS.” According to the official profile, this album gave XG its first top-100 entry on the Billboard 200.
The English edition of Sports Kyunghyang (a South Korean daily) put the album at No. 93 and noted that AWE had reached No. 175. According to the same article, XG appeared as a guest on the Season 28 finale of the US TV show The Voice in 2025 and performed “GALA.”
Tokyo Dome, Coachella, Wembley
XG's first world tour, XG 1st WORLD TOUR “The first HOWL,” began in 2024. According to the official profile, the tour played 47 shows in 35 cities around the world and drew about 400,000 attendees.
The finale was at Tokyo Dome on May 14, 2025, XG's first-ever show there. Billboard JAPAN (in Japanese) reported that about 50,000 fans were thrilled.
A month earlier, in April 2025, XG played the American music festival Coachella. Before the shows, Natalie (the Japanese music news site Ongaku Natalie; in Japanese) reported that XG would close the Sahara stage as its final act on April 13 and 20 (local time). According to the report, no Japanese artist had been given that slot on this stage before.
Billboard JAPAN reported that XG performed as the Sahara stage's closing act on April 13, local time. The same article also says the Coachella appearance lifted XG's streams in the US by 71%, according to Luminate. The festival stage seems to have led straight to new listeners.
The official profile also says XG was the only Japanese artist to perform at that year's Coachella.
According to the official profile, on June 6, 2026, XG performed at the UK festival Capital's Summertime Ball 2026, taking the stage at Wembley Stadium. The official profile describes this as a first for any Japanese artist group.
How Far Has the Second World Tour, “THE CORE,” Come?
XG's second world tour, XG WORLD TOUR: THE CORE, began in February 2026. In Asia and Australia, dates were set for Bangkok on July 19, Manila on July 22, and Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne on October 12.
In Europe, the dates were London on September 2 and Paris on September 5. XG's appearance at FUJI ROCK FESTIVAL '26 on July 25 was also announced, so the summer looks to have been spent going back and forth between Japan and abroad.
As of November 1, 2026, the North American leg is about to begin, with Oakland on November 3, Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles on the 5th, and the United Center in Chicago on the 9th. The Dallas show on November 17 and the Mexico City show on November 22, however, were announced as “canceled due to unforeseen circumstances” in a notice dated October 6 (translated from the Japanese). The notice gives no further reason.
The tour wraps up with dome shows in Japan in February 2027: Tokyo Dome on February 10 and 11, and Kyocera Dome Osaka on February 27 and 28. So the year-long tour will close at domes in eastern and western Japan.
Before that, as of November 1, 2026, the digital single “DEPENDS” is scheduled for release on November 6. XG is also scheduled to appear at Spotify On Stage Tokyo 2026 at Tokyo Garden Theater on December 20.
As of November 1, 2026, the official YouTube channel has 4.88 million subscribers, about 2.178 billion total views, and 1,222 videos, as shown on the channel page. By year, the channel posted 179 videos in 2022, 283 in 2023, 353 in 2024, 224 in 2025, and 183 in 2026 through November 1. So 2024, the year the first world tour began, was the year with the most uploads.
The name that began as Xtraordinary Girls is now Xtraordinary Genes, but from domes to Wembley, this looks like a group that has kept lengthening its stride as seven.
